Mumbai Police Prohibits Singing Obscene Songs Publicly Due To Holi

Mumbai: In an effort to maintain public peace and safety during the upcoming Holi, Dhulivandan, and Rang Panchami celebrations, the Mumbai Police have issued a set of restrictions for citizens. The order, effective from March 12 to March 18, aims to curb public nuisance and offensive behavior during the festive period.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Akbar Pathan issued the order, outlining specific prohibitions to be followed across the city. Violators will face legal action under Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951.

Key Restrictions Imposed:

  1. Obscene Public Utterances – The public utterance of obscene words, slogans, or the singing of vulgar songs is strictly prohibited.
  2. Offensive Gestures and Symbols – The use of offensive gestures, mimetic representations, or the exhibition of pictures, placards, symbols, or objects that may offend dignity, decency, or morality is banned.
  3. Spraying Coloured Water on Pedestrians – Throwing or spraying coloured water, dyes, or powder on pedestrians is forbidden.
  4. Throwing Water Balloons – The preparation and throwing of water-filled balloons, whether coloured or plain, is not allowed during the celebrations.

The Mumbai Police have urged residents to celebrate Holi responsibly and ensure that the festivities do not cause discomfort or distress to others. Authorities have also warned that strict action will be taken against those found violating these guidelines.

Citizens are encouraged to report any unlawful activities to the police, ensuring a safe and peaceful Holi celebration for all.
