Mumbai Rains: Red Alert Issued, Heavy Showers To Hit Mumbai

Mumbai: Heavy rain to hit Mumbai for the next few days. The weather bureau has issued a red alert for the west and central Maharashtra, including the ghats, till Sunday.

A red alert is very serious in this context, as it means that city and state agencies should be in a position to be prepared for the possibility of ‘action’.

The India Meteorological Department has reported that there are chances of heavy rains till August 4-5 and even extremely heavy rain at isolated places, especially in the Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, a red alert has been issued for Mumbai for the next two days, “With the development of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, on Saturday night and Sunday, Mumbai is very likely to get intense heavy rainfall. Warnings are issued, including for the west coast,” said IMD-West’s chief, KS Hosalikar.

IMD said that there is a possibility of widespread rains with heavy to very heavy rainfall in Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa during the next two to three days. Meanwhile, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the North Konkan and Ghat areas of central Maharashtra.
