Mumbai’s Dharavi Reports No New Daily COVID-19 Case For 1st Time Since April 1

Mumbai: Once in Mumbai the hotspot of coronavirus disease (COVID19) did not report a single infection in the last 24 hours for the first time since April.

The caseload of Dharavi is now 3,788, although the number of active cases is 12, eight of them in isolation at home and four in the COVID19 care center, PTI has quoted a civilian official as saying. So far 3,464 people have been recovered in Dharavi, where 650,000 people are trapped in huts spread over 2.5,000 kilometers.

The first COVID19 case in Dharavi was registered on 1 April, about 20 days after the first such case came to light in Mumbai.

3,580 cases were reported in Maharashtra on Thursday, taking the tally to 1,909,951. After 89 new casualties, the death toll rose to 49,000. Maharashtra has controlled its daily caseload and has not crossed 5,000 cases for the last 20 days. A total of 98,503 cases have been reported in December against 109,166 from 1 November to 24 November.

Mumbai saw 643 cases, taking the count to 289,204, and 12 deaths, taking the toll to 11,045. In Pune city, 299 cases were registered, which reached 189,338. Nagpur city ranks third after Mumbai and Pune in the case of Dainik Kasalod with 237 new cases.

The state has completed 12,341,204 COVID trials with 62,728 tests conducted on Thursday. The state’s overall positivity rate was 15.48%. The number of patients recovered reached 1,804,871 with 3,171 recorded in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate remains at 94.5%.
