NCP Leader Ajit Pawar Sworn In As Deputy CM Of Maharashtra

Mumbai: NCP leader Ajit Pawar has been sworn in as the deputy CM of Maharashtra. Before the Maha-Vikas-Aghadi coalition government was formed in the state, Pawar was with the BJP and was sworn in as deputy CM on 23 November.

However, he resigned from the post on 26 November to become part of the Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP alliance.

The names of the other future ministers from the NCP quota are: Dilip Walse Patil, Aditi Tatkare, Rajendra Shingne, Rajesh Tope and Manik Kokate.

Apart from the post of Assembly speaker, Congress has a total of 13 ministers. The government already has two representatives – Balasaheb Thorat and Nitin Raut. The names of Ashok Chavan and Amit Deshmukh are believed to have been finalized, while the remaining names are awaiting approval by party president Sonia Gandhi. In fact, the expansion, which was originally planned for today, had to be postponed due to delays from the Congress.

Shiv Sena candidates for the post of the minister are Prakash Abitkar, Gulab Patil, Dada Bhise, Uday Samant, Bachu Kadu, Sanjay Rathod and Abdul Sattar.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray took charge on 28 November.
