New Zealand Defeats India By 22 Runs, Clinch The Series By 2-0

Mumbai: Blackcaps registered their second ODI win against India and clinched the three-match ODI by 2-0.
The Kiwis defeated India by 22 runs in the second ODI at Eden Park in Auckland to clinch the series 2–0. The series defeat is India’s first victory in six years on New Zealand soil.

It was another poor performance in the Virat Kohli-led outfit, as the batting order surrendered to the Kiwis, boasting some of the biggest names in world cricket.

Winning the toss India invited Kiwis to bat first and it was great to start by New Zealand openers and Indian bowlers failed to take wickets as Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls stitched a 91-run opening stand.

Indian bowlers made their comeback as Kiwis middle order faltered massively with the likes of Tom Latham (7), James Neesham (3), Colin de Grandhomme (5) and Mark Chapman (1) departing for cheap. A total of 273/8 in 50 overs was scored on the sluggish track in Auckland with the help of Taylor New Zealand. Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets for India, while Shardul Thakur took two wickets.

Chasing the target of 274 runs India lost their openers Mayank Agarwal (3) failed to make the opportunity count. Virat Kohli attacked once again, but the Indian captain was sent off for a sensational delivery by Tim Southee. 15. Shreyas Iyer hit 52 runs but preferred KL Rahul (4) and Kedar Jadhav (9). Failed to support Mumbai boy in the middle order.

While Ravindra Jadeja, Thakur, and Saini tried to contribute with Willow, it was little for the Men in Blue as they won the three-match ODI series 2–0 after being ruled out for 251.
