No Fine To Be Imposed For Not Wearing Face Masks In Delhi

Mumbai: In view of the declining COVID-19 positivity rate, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) announced on Friday that the fine imposed for not wearing masks in public places will now be scrapped.

The DDMA order notes that it still remains advisable to wear a mask in public places, in order to prevent COVID-19.

“DDMA in its meeting held on 31.03.2022 stated that the positivity rate of COVID-19 infection has come down significantly and the majority of the population has been vaccinated… Now, DDMA has decided that this is an advisory to all the public. to wear masks in public places, however, no penalty shall be imposed for such offence with immediate effect till further orders.”

This comes after a sharp drop in the cases of COVID-19 in the national capital. Delhi recorded 113 cases on Thursday, March 31 and no deaths due to coronavirus.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s office on Thursday said all COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted in Maharashtra from Saturday, April 2, as the state welcomes the Marathi New Year. The state of Telangana has also removed the mask mandate.

India on Friday, 1 April, recorded 1,335 new COVID-19 cases.
