No Place For Gangsters In Punjab, They Will Be Wiped Out: CM Mann

Mumbai: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to wiping out gangsters, smugglers, criminals, and other anti-social elements from the state. Addressing a gathering during the passing out parade of 2,490 newly inducted cops, Mann emphasized that Punjab, known for its saints, martyrs, and legendary figures, would not tolerate criminal activities.

Crackdown on Crime and Drugs

The chief minister accused previous governments of allowing criminals to thrive under their patronage but assured that his administration had launched a “crusade” to eliminate anti-national elements.

“Gangsters, smugglers, and criminals will soon be behind bars. Punjab is at a historic juncture as we have declared a decisive war against drugs,” Mann stated.

He highlighted that the state has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and is actively working to cut off the supply chain. Drug peddlers are being arrested, and the properties of drug smugglers are either seized or demolished.

Strengthening Punjab Police

Acknowledging that Punjab Police plays a crucial role in maintaining peace, Mann stressed the need for continuous updates in investigation techniques, science, and technology to tackle evolving threats.

Congratulating the new recruits, he urged them to serve with dedication, hard work, and commitment while playing an active role in Punjab’s fight against drugs.

Since 2022, over 10,000 youth have been recruited into the police force, with plans to induct another 10,000 personnel soon, pending Cabinet approval.

Success of ‘Sadak Surakhya Force’

Mann also highlighted the achievements of the ‘Sadak Surakhya Force’ (Road Safety Force), launched in February 2023, to reduce traffic accidents.

  • The force has been deployed across 4,200 km of accident-prone highways
  • It has led to a 48.10% reduction in road accident fatalities
  • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari praised the initiative in Parliament

The chief minister reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety and prosperity of Punjab, stating that his government will continue to take strict measures against crime while strengthening law enforcement.
