Not Worried About Dropped From Limited Overs, Had Done Good Job In White Ball Cricket: Kuldeep Yadav

Mumbai: Current inform wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been missing since World Cup 2019, he was dropped from the T20I squads against West Indies and South Africa.

Meanwhile, in his recent interaction, he said “So far, I have done a good job in the limited-overs format. I feel very comfortable with the white ball,” says Kuldeep.

He said, ‘I am not worried about not being selected for the last two T20I series. Perhaps the selectors felt that I needed a break. Perhaps the team feels that some changes are needed. I respect him, and I have no complaints. I see it as an opportunity to do well in the Test.”

Kuldeep was part of the India A side for the second unofficial Test against South Africa A, which ended the draw in Mysore on Friday. The wrist-spinner bowled brilliantly in the match, claiming 4 wickets for 121 runs in 29 overs, which was India’s only innings.

“There is no doubt that wrist spinners are dominating the world,” Kuldeep said.

“But sometimes, when you try to stop a run, you get really expensive. We need to work on our accuracy. You need to accept that you hit for a run and work on being economical.”

He said, “When you are not playing that format consistently, it is hard to play cricket with the red ball.” If you are not a regular in this format, it takes time to get into your rhythm. When you are constantly playing limited-overs and suddenly turn into a test without much preparation, it will be difficult.

He said along with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja for the Test, they will have to use the limited opportunities they get.

“When three spinners like Ashwin, Jaddu and I are in the team, it is challenging to choose the right combination. You need to be ready to grab your chance. Kuldeep said, there is definitely pressure because you only get a few chances and you have to make full use of them.

In 68 T20 matches since the 2016 T20 World Cup, Kuldeep has taken 81 wickets at an average of 22.97 (ninth-best in the world, second among Indians), an economy rate of 7.60 (fifth among Indians). And, he feels that wrist spinners are currently in demand.
