‘Not Written In The Vedas’: Uttrakhand Says No To Live Streaming Char Dham Yatra

Mumbai: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today said that there will be no live streaming of Char Dham Yatra as it is not mentioned in the Vedas.

The decision comes after the Uttarakhand High Court ordered a stay on the state cabinet’s decision to allow travel with a limited number of pilgrims.

Stating that the decision was in the public interest, the court also ordered live streaming of rituals and prayers for the devotees.

“Taking into account all the suggestions, we have decided not to do the live streaming of Chardham Yatra as it is not written in the Vedas. We are also going to file an affidavit in this regard in the High Court,” the CM said.

On July 8, Advocate General S.N. Babulkar had told the court that “the scriptures cannot allow live-streaming of the ritual”.

Countering his argument, the Court held that India is a democratic country governed by law and not by scriptures.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Uttarakhand government along with the Haridwar Police cancelled the Kanwar Yatra this year, saying that Kanwariyas would not be allowed to enter Haridwar and the border would also be sealed.

Kanwar Yatra is going to start from 25th July.

The central government had also filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court stating that state governments should not allow the movement of ‘kanwariyas’ and developed a system to provide ‘Ganga water’ through tankers at designated places. is of. should do
