‘NYAY Not A Top-up Project BJP Being Anti-Poor’, Congress

Mumbai: Congress said it is a clear way that Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY) isn’t a ‘top-up-scheme’ but it assures to deliver Rs 72,000 to 20% poorest family living in the country.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala in a press conference criticizing the BJP saying as ‘anti-poor’.

He said, “This is not a top-up scheme, 20% poorest family in the country will be provided by 72,000 Rs annually. 5crores family will be able to benefit with this scheme. This scheme is centred with women as money will be directly transferred into the account of women in the family. By covering both the rural and urban area, this scheme is the biggest one to prevail in independent India.”

He further added saying, “If someone earns Rs 6,000 then the other 6K will be given and this is the way how it will function and topped up but to calculate and analyze the earning in 5 crore families won’t be possible. Hence, if someone has an income of Rs 7,000 than overall we have to give him 72,000Rs and so we will be topping up 6K to each month. Everyone will be credited with Rs 72,000 but will be top-up based.”

Surjewala confronting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “We want to ask the government of Modi that whether they are in the majority with the NYAY scheme or not because their (BJP) leaders are on against with this programme. If PM Modi can pass and waive off the loan of Rs 3,17,000 crore of a wealthy rich family then why can’t he waive of Rs 72,000 for poor?”

Further continuing his attack on the Centre government the Congress leader said Prime Minister Modi should let his party (BJP) know that how ‘under his(PM Modi) support, the flighted economic fraudsters Nirav Modi, Vijay Maliya escaped from India’.

‘PM has debilitated India’s Rs 210 crores on 89 foreign tours and spent public money worth 5,000 crores on advertisements than why they are criticizing for the payment to poor people worth Rs 72,000?’, Surjewla.

He assured that when Congress’s 5-year term will get over, poverty in the country will get a halt.

He claimed, ‘Country’s will grow at rapid speed when poor will have more money.’

On Monday, Congress President, Rahul Gandhi stated that they will implement ‘Nyuntam Aay Yojana’ (NYAY) from which 72,000 rupees each year will be granted to the 20% poorest family if Congress came into power.

Rahul said, ‘As the part of ‘final assault of poverty’, this scheme is different and unique over all the countries in the world. From NYAY, minimum income guarantee will be delivered’.

‘Like how we waive off the farmer loan in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, we will fully deliver the scheme and money to the poor people of the country’, he added.

Congress President said, ‘Before the electoral process I have made the promise and had fulfilled it within 10 days’.
