Odisha Capital Bhubaneswar Declared COVID-19 Free
Mumbai: In a recent development, Odisha capital Bhubaneswar on Monday become coronavirus free with the recovery of all the 48 COVID-19 patients in the city.
The official said that Bhubaneswar, which reported the first COVID-19 case on March 15 and Odisha’s first corona fatal on April 6, was declared free of highly contagious disease.
The last batch of three patients was one of a total of 57 cases declared as COVID-19 on Monday.
Of the 50 reported cases from the city, 48 have been recovered and two persons have died.
A health department statement said that there are no active cases of COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar and Jagatsinghpur district.
Out of 57 people recovering from the disease, 40 patients are from Ganjam district, 5 from Jagatsinghpur, 4 from Mayurbhanj, 3 from Bhubaneswar, 2 from Bolangir and one each from Sundargarh, Balasore and Kendrapada.
With this, the total number of patients recovering from the disease so far was 277 out of 876 COVID-19 cases.
So far four people have died due to COVID-19.
Officials said 48 new COVID-19 cases were detected on Monday.
Earlier, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Dhenkanal and Koraput districts were also declared coronavirus free. Officials said that COVID-19 cases have come from 30 districts out of 23 states.
