Odisha Reports 749 New COVID-19 Cases, 16 More Deaths

Mumbai: A Health Department official said that at least 749 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha, which reached 3,09,408 on Monday, while 16 fresh fatalities brought the toll in the state to 1,543 gave.

Out of 749 cases, 437 were reported from quarantine centers, and the remaining were detected during contact tracing.

Khurda recorded the highest number of new cases at 88, followed by Mayurbhanj at 78 and Sundergarh at 55.

There are currently 9,950 active cases in Odisha, while 2,97,862 patients have recovered from the infection. The positivity rate in the state is 5.84 percent.

According to the official, five other COVID-19 patients in the state have died due to comorbidities.

Over 52.94 lakh sample tests have been conducted in the state, including 35,051 on Sunday, the official added.
