Mumbai: The Odisha Government on Thursday announced that it will shut down 11 districts on weekends to reduce the frequency of people coming out of their homes.

The state has also imposed night curfew for 10 hours from 7 pm to 5 am to further check the spread of Covid-19.

“The state government has announced a weekend shutdown in 11 districts to reduce the frequency of people coming out of their homes in June. It means people will be at their homes for full 8 days in the month of June”, says Naveen Patnaik, Odisha CM.

“Similarly, a 10 hours night curfew from 7 pm to 5 am will restrict the people for 300 hours in a month. It means both weekend shutdown & night curfew will keep people indoors for 17 days in a month, which will help in checking the spread of #COVID19 to a great extent”, he added.

Odisha has reported 2,478 positive Covid-19 cases including 1,481 recoveries and 7 deaths.
