One Nation One Election Much Needed: President Ram Nath Kovind

Mumbai: Considering that continuous elections in different parts of the country have affected the speed and continuity of development, President Kovind thought seriously about the “development-oriented” proposal to hold elections together in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies from MPs.

Addressing a joint meeting of the two Houses of Parliament, Kovind said, “There is a need for ‘One nation Simultaneous election’ time, which will provide quick development facility, which will benefit our countrymen.

He urged all members of Parliament “to seriously ponder over this development-oriented proposal of One Nation – Simultaneous Elections.”

He said, during the last few decades, due to continuous elections in some parts of the country or other areas, the speed and continuity of development programs have been affected.”

“Our countrymen have demonstrated their intelligence by giving clear judgment … One nation symbolical election, time is required, which can lead to rapid development, which will benefit our countrymen.

This comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi organized a brain stormy session with the heads of 21 political parties to hold elections simultaneously.

After the meeting, the Prime Minister announced the formation of a committee to give timely suggestions on various issues related to the election of a nation, one election.

The centre has been doing this with the idea for some time now. The government think tank, NITI Aayog, had suggested controlling the two-phase Lok Sabha and Assembly elections from 2024 last year to ensure the minimum campaign-dissolution of the government.
