Mumbai: Praising centers decision over the abrogation of Article 370, Union Home Minister and BJP President Amit Shah said that no other Prime Minister except Narendra Modi had the courage to abrogate Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah, who was addressing an election rally ahead of the state assembly elections on October 21, said: “Many governments came but no other Prime Minister dared to repeal Article 370.
Many Prime Ministers came but none showed courage. It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a 56-inch chest that showed the courage to repeal Article 370.”
Shah said, “This is the first election after the repeal of Article 370. When Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders come here for campaigning, ask them about their stand on Article 370.”
BJP is contesting 164 seats while Shiv Sena has fielded 124 candidates. 14 candidates of smaller parties are contesting the assembly elections on the lotus symbol of BJP.
The voting for the 288-member Assembly will be held on October 21 in a single phase. The counting of votes will take place on October 24.
