Opposition Leaders Protest In Parliament Premises Against CAA, NRC

Mumbai: Before the commencement of the budget session, several opposition leaders, including Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, staged a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Population Register and against the National Registrar of Citizens (proposed) in front of the Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex here on Friday.

The leaders shouted slogans reading ‘India Save India’, and Save Constitution and No to CAA, NPR, NRC’ and stop the politics of hate ‘and’ Our Save Our Democracy ‘.

President Ramnath Kovind began speaking at 11 am in the Central Hall of Parliament. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will also preside over a meeting of floor leaders of Rajya Sabha at his residence today.

The Union Budget will be presented on Saturday. The first phase of the session will end on February 11, while the second part of the session will begin on March 2 and end on April 3.
