Our Best Player Is Coming Back; Bangladesh Selector As Shakib’s Ban Ends

Mumbai: As Bangladesh all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan’s ban comes to an end, their chief selector Minhajul Abedin hailed the return of their “best player”.

The 33-year-old player is currently in the USA with his family and will land in Bangladesh in the first week of next month. BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin said his star players would ease into international formats through domestic outings.

“Our best player is coming back to the field. They now have to prepare themselves for the domestic tournament as we have some international series for the moment. We have to monitor his physical condition. Let him start in domestic cricket. We should give him time, but he is a very experienced player. He won’t take long to get back into rhythm,” he added.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is waiting with their arms open to welcome their star player. He was handed a one-year ban along with a one-year suspended sentence by the International Cricket Council’s Anti-Corruption Unit on 29th October in 2019.

Shakib failed to report the corruption-related approaches taken by a bookie to him. When the all-rounder later interacted with the public, he openly admitted that it was his fault that he failed to inform the authorities.
