Mumbai: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday blacklisted about 2550 foreign Tablighi Jamaat members and banned them from travelling to India for 10 years.
The Jamaat members violated the visa rules by staying in India amidst the nationwide coronavirus lockdown.
Home Ministry took action after various state governments provided details about the Jamati’s who were illegally residing in mosques and religious places across the country.
Delhi emerged as a major hotspot of COVID19 in March after a large gathering of the Tablighi Jamaat was held in the Nizamuddin area of the capital city.
‘Markaz’ a global headquarters of Jamaat in Delhi came into limelight after a history of a number of increasing COVID19 cases were traced back to the gathering in Delhi.
