Over 300 Delhi Police Personnel Test Positive For COVID-19

Mumbai: Amid rising cases of COVID-19 in the national capital, over 300 Delhi Police personnel, including the Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Additional Commissioner Chinmoy Biswal, have reportedly tested positive for the virus.

A large number of police personnel have come under the grip of Covid in all units and all police stations including Police Headquarters.

Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 22,751 new COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours, the highest since May 1 last year, the state health department said on Sunday.

On May 1, the national capital had registered 25,219 COVID-19 cases.

According to the bulletin issued by the health department, the positivity rate for the day stands at 23.53 per cent. With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the city has gone up to 15,49,730, which includes 60,733 active cases.

During the last 24 hours, 10,179 people have recovered from the infection, taking the total number of recoveries in the national capital to 14,63,837.

However, the city also reported 17 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours. So far 25,160 people have died due to infection in Delhi.

A total of 1,800 patients are currently hospitalized, including 182 suspected patients and 1,618 confirmed COVID-19 patients.
