Over 40% Jump In Daily COVID-19 Cases In India With 5,233 Infections In 24 Hours

Mumbai: India has reported 5,233 COVID-19 cases, 3,345 recoveries and 7 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

This increase is believed to be led by the surge in COVID cases in Maharashtra. The state reported 1,881 new coronavirus cases last evening, which is the highest since February 18.

With this surge in COVID cases, the active caseload in the country stands at 28,857, which is 0.07 per cent of India’s total positive cases.

An increase in daily and weekly positivity rates has also been observed. The Health Ministry informed that the daily positivity rate was seen at 1.67 per cent in the last 24 hours, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.12.

According to ministry data, the daily positivity rate stood at 1.21 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.97 per cent on Tuesday. In the last 24 hours also 3,345 have been cured, taking the total number of cured people to 4,26,36,710.

India’s recovery rate is currently 98.72 per cent. India conducted 3,13,361 COVID-19 tests in the last 24 hours.

According to the data of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the country has so far conducted a total of 85.35 crores (85,35,22,623) tests.

The country has so far given more than 194.43 crores (1,94,43,26,416) vaccine doses under the nationwide vaccination campaign. This has been achieved through 2,48,41,726 sessions.

India has also administered 3,73,13,276 precaution doses to all the beneficiaries so far.
