Mumbai: According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the total number of cases in India has increased to 80,88,851 with 48,648 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours
As per the ministry, the number of deaths has increased to 1,21,090 with 563 new deaths in the last 24 hours.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 10,77,28,088 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of Thursday, 29 October. These 11,64,648 samples were tested on Thursday.
MoHFW said today that India has currently increased its test capacity to over 10.65 crores in January.
A very high test results in a consistently falling positivity rate. Currently, it is 7.54 percent
This combined invasive and targeted testing proved to be very effective in early detection, isolation, and hospitalization. This has kept the new numbers within manageable limits and the number of deaths is low.
