Over 58.07 Cr COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Provided To States, UTs

Mumbai: The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday informed that more than 58.07 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to the States and Union Territories.

“So far more than 58.07 crores (58,07,64,210) vaccine doses have been provided to the States and UTs through the Government of India (free channel) and the Direct State Procurement category. In addition, 51,48,970 doses are in the pipeline,” an official release by the ministry was informed.

The ministry also informed that over 3.62 crores (3,62,24,601) remaining and unutilized COVID vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination began on June 21, 2021.

Immunization drive has been accelerated through the availability of more vaccines, advanced visibility of vaccine availability to States and Union Territories for better planning and streamlining of the vaccine supply chain.

As part of the nationwide vaccination campaign, the Government of India is supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them with free COVID vaccines. In the new phase of universalization of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, the central government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to the states and union territories.
