Pak Increased Intensity Of Unprovoked Shelling Across LoC, 16 Dead Including 5 Kids: India

Mumbai: In a significant escalation of hostilities, India has conducted targeted military strikes against Pakistani air defence infrastructure in response to a wave of drone and missile attacks launched by Pakistan on the night of May 7–8. This marks a key development in the ongoing Operation SINDOOR, which India describes as a “focused, measured, and non-escalatory” military campaign.

According to the Ministry of Defence, Pakistan attempted to strike multiple military installations across Northern and Western India, including critical air bases and military facilities in Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, and further west to Bhuj. These attacks, primarily carried out using drones and missiles, were intercepted and neutralised by India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and layered air defence systems. Debris recovered at various locations across Indian territory is said to confirm the origin and trajectory of the Pakistani aggression.

In retaliation, the Indian Armed Forces this morning carried out precision strikes on Pakistani air defence radars and systems, including one confirmed hit in Lahore, which has reportedly been neutralised. Defence officials stressed that India’s response was confined to the same military domain and matched Pakistan’s intensity, reiterating its strategic stance of proportionality and restraint.

Meanwhile, Pakistani forces have significantly ramped up unprovoked mortar and heavy artillery shelling across the Line of Control (LoC), targeting civilian areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army reports that 16 civilians have been killed, including five children and three women, as a result of this barrage. Counter-fire measures have since been undertaken by Indian forces to suppress the hostile firing and protect border populations.

The Indian government has reaffirmed its commitment to de-escalation and regional stability but has warned that any further military provocation by Pakistan will be met with “a suitable response.”

“The ball is in Pakistan’s court,” a senior official stated. “India will act with restraint, but it will not remain passive in the face of aggression.”

The situation along the LoC remains tense, with both sides on heightened alert.
