Pak PM Imran Paid Tribute To Tipu Sultan On His Death Anniversary

Mumbai: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan pays tribute to Tipu Sultan, praising the 18th-century ruler of Mysore, he has said that instead of living “the life of slavery” he likes to die for freedom.

“Today 4th May is the death anniversary of Tipu Sultan – a man I admire because he preferred freedom and died fighting for it rather than live a life of enslavement,” Khan tweeted on Saturday.

It is not the first time Khan has praised Sultan’s valour.

In February, after the Pulwama terror attack, in view of the Indo-Pak tension, the Prime Minister appreciated Sultan’s gallantry in a joint meeting of the Parliament.

Sultan fought bravely in the fourth Anglo-Mysore war but was killed in the siege of Srirangam, because the French military advisers had asked him to flee secretly, but he famously replied: “It is better to live one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep”.
