Pakistan Defeats Sri Lanka By 263 Runs, Claims Third Spot ICC World Test Championship

Mumbai: Pakistan made fantastic come back in its test match as they registered a massive 263-run victory against Sri Lanka on the fifth day of the second Test here on Monday.

This is Pakistan’s first victory on Pakistani soil in 10 years. Sri Lanka resumed their second innings 212/7 on the 5th day with Lasith Ambulanceia and Oshada Fernando at the crease.

Pakistan’s Nasim Shah took five wickets to his name. He dismissed Ambuldenia (0) on the first ball of the day. After this Vishwa Fernando came to bat.

The pair failed to form a good partnership as Oshada Fernando was also sent to the pavilion in the next over.

In the second innings, Sri Lankan batsman Oshande Fernando was dismissed for 102 runs. Lahiru Kumara was the next batsman to come to the crease, but his compatriot Vishwa Fernando was declared leg-out before he was lbw to Yasir Shah in the next over. Therefore, Sri Lanka was all out for 212 all night without adding a single run.

Pakistan was bowled out for 191 runs in their first innings, but returned brilliantly and declared their second innings at 555/3. On the other hand, Sri Lanka had scored 271 runs in their first innings.

With this win, Pakistan claimed third place in the ICC World Test Championship table with 80 points, behind only Australia (216) and India (360).
