Pakistan Violated Ceasefire, One Indian Soldier Shot Dead

Mumbai: Since August 17 the Pakistani troops have been violating the ceasefire agreement and it was the fourth time when they resorted to shelling and mortar bombing and killed one Indian soldier. Naik Rajib Thapa, a 34-year-old Indian Army Soldier was killed on Friday as the Indian Army responded strongly to the firing coming from the Pakistani side.

According to a spokesperson, Thapa was manning a forward post in Kalsian village of Nowshera sector in Rajouri when he was shot from across the border on early Friday.

“Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the line of control (LoC). In the exchange of fire Naik Rajib attained Martyrdom,” defence spokesperson Lt. Col Devender Anand said. He further added Thapa was a brave soldier.

“Naik Rajib Thapa was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty” the Lt. also said that casualties to Pakistani troops have also been inflicted by Indian soldiers.

On Tuesday in Poonch, a soldier died and four of the soldiers were injured due to the firing and shelling done by the Pakistani troops. The terrorist attacks in the Jammu and Kashmir region have increased after the Government of India abrogated article 370 that provided special status to the Jammu and Kashmir region.
