Peace In Country Due To Efforts Of Modi, Shah: Sarbananda Sonowal

Mumbai: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, peace has been restored in the entire country.

He appealed to those engaged in armed movements to return to the mainstream to ensure peace and prosperity for the generations to come.

Speaking at a public rally here on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Hemant Biswa Sarma-led BJP government in Assam, Sonowal said, from Jammu and Kashmir to Assam and the entire country, now everywhere is because of the efforts of our Prime Minister.

The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH, Sonowal also lauded the efforts to establish lasting peace, especially in Assam and other northeastern states.

Sonowal said Assam was earlier known as a disturbed region. The development was very slow. Even after being in power for more than 60 years, Congress could not do anything to solve the problems.

But after Narendra Modi came to power in 2014, he has achieved considerable success in solving most of the problems, he said.

Urging the extremists to renounce violence and return to the mainstream, he said, violence does not solve anything, it breeds vengeance. I appeal to all to come for peace talks so that we can ensure development and prosperity for our future generations.

Sonowal, who led the first BJP-led government here before being replaced by Sarma when the saffron party returned to power in 2021, also congratulated the present government on completing its first year.

Assam has been making steady progress for last one year under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma and Team Assam. I am sure they will continue to work for the people.
