PM Modi Lauds EC For Strengthening Democracy, Ensuring Smooth Conduct Of Polls

Mumbai: The Election Commission of India (ECI) said on the occasion of the 11th National Voters’ Day that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a remarkable contribution in strengthening our democracy by ensuring the smooth conduct of elections.

“National Voters Day is an occasion to appreciate the remarkable contribution of the EC to strengthen our democratic fabric and ensure smooth conduct of elections. This is also a day to spread awareness on the need of ensuring voter registration, particularly among the youth,” tweeted PM Modi on Monday.

The theme of this year’s National Voters’ Day celebrations is’ Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed ‘. It envisages active and participative voters during elections.

It also focuses on the EC’s commitment to safely organized elections during the COVID-19 epidemic. National Voters’ Day is celebrated on 25 January every year since 2011 to mark the establishment day of Election Commission on 25 January 1950.

The main purpose of the National Voters’ Day celebrations is to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrollment, especially for new voters. The Election Commission said in a statement that the day is used for dedicated to the voters of the country, spreading awareness among voters and publicized participation in the electoral process.
