PM Narendra Modi Accepts President Xi’s Invitation For Third Informal Summit In China Next Year

Mumbai: After Modi-Xi’s informal summit in India, President Xi invited PM Narendra Modi for the third informal summit between the two leaders in China next year and the latter accepted.

President Xi arrived in Chennai on Friday for the second informal summit between the two leaders. The two leaders discussed the issues during a two-day meeting in Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu. Xi became the second Chinese chief to visit the South Indian coastal city after Zhou Enlai in 1958.

Addressing the media after the summit, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said on Saturday, “Prime Minister Modi and President Xi also inspired the exercise of the informal summit in a positive light to deepen the dialogue and mutual understanding among the leaders To provide an important opportunity for promotion. He said, “They agreed to continue this practice in the future. President Xi invited Prime Minister Modi to visit China for the third informal summit. Prime Minister Modi has accepted the invitation,” he said.

However, the date, time and location of the third informal summit have not been decided yet.

There was a “heart-to-heart” discussion between the two leaders over issues that failed the bilateral relations of the two nations.

Xi said, “Last year we held the first informal summit. In fact, you put this initiative before the Prime Minister. In fact, the Wuhan summit takes China-India relations to a new stage of healthy and stable development.”
