PM Narendra Modi, Norway’s PM Erna Solberg To Give New Direction To Relations

Mumbai: In a recent development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed ways to achieve sustainable development goals with his Norway counterpart Erna Solberg and ways to give a new direction to bilateral relations.

PM Modi and Solberg reviewed the delegation-level talks and the entire gamut of India-Norway relations.

“We reviewed all areas of our cooperation, and discussed ways of giving new energy and direction to bilateral ties,” Modi said in a press statement after talks with Solberg.

He said that he had a “fruitful discussion” in all aspects of the ocean economy. India and Norway have strong cooperation internationally. Both countries closely coordinate issues such as improvement in the UN Security Council, multilateral export control regimes and terrorism. Solberg arrived here Monday at a formal reception in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

During press statement, the Norwegian Prime Minister also discussed in the meeting with his Indian counterpart on cooperation in energy, climate change, and environment. Said that if India does not get involved then the world will not be able to achieve SDG.

Separately, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on Solberg and the two leaders had a good exchange of views on expanding ties across all sectors, officials said.
