PM Narendra Modi Says Making India Self-reliant Is The Only Way Forward To Ensure 21st Century Belong To Us

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stressed on a self-reliant India and said that it is the responsibility of everyone to ensure that the 21st century belongs to the country.

The Prime Minister said in an address to the nation, “It is our responsibility to ensure that the 21st century belongs to India. Its path is one – self-reliant India.”

He said that the COVID-19 crisis brought “an opportunity for India”.

“Today as a nation, we stand at a very important juncture. Such a huge disaster has brought a signal to India. It has given us a message and brought an opportunity for us to be self-reliant, whose soul ‘ Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, hai. Kutumbakam ‘(the world is a family), “he said.

“When the crisis started then not even a single PPE kit was manufactured in India, only a few N95 masks were available. Today 2 Lakh PPE kits and 2 Lakh N95 masks are manufactured in India daily,” he said.

Saying that mankind has never given up, Modi said, “We will fight the virus by following the guidelines strictly. The way forward is a self-sustainable India. India’s definition of self-reliance takes into account the needs of a globalised world.”

The Prime Minister highlighted that India has fought TB and polio successfully, setting an example for the world.
