Mumbai: After the Mumbai Police detained Republic TV editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami, from his residence in the suicide abduction case 2018, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that the police can take action against anyone if there is evidence.
“The law is followed in Maharashtra. Police can take action if they have evidence against anyone. Since the formation of Thackeray government, no action has been taken against anyone for revenge,” Raut said.

Republic TV has alleged that Arnab was attacked by policemen and then forcibly taken to Raigad in Maharashtra. While it is unclear in which case he has been arrested, Republic TV reported that Arnab has been detained in connection with the 2018 suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik, who allegedly designed the Republic Studio.
A case of abetment to suicide was registered against Arnab in Raigad as the family alleged that the suicide occurred on non-payment of bills. Arnab was first placed in a car and then pushed into a van, according to scenes on the channel. As he was being taken into the van, Arnab told the cameras that he and his family were beaten up inside the house.
