Policeman Performs CPR To Save Monkey Who Fell Unconscious Due To Extreme Heat In UP
Mumbai: In a heartwarming display of compassion and quick thinking, police officer Vikas Tomar saved the life of an unconscious monkey using Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in Bulandshahr.
The incident, which took place on May 24, was captured on camera and has since gained widespread attention after being shared by news agency IANS on social media.
The monkey had collapsed from a tree within the premises of the Chhatari police station due to dehydration and heat stroke amidst the extreme heat. Officer Tomar, 51, immediately sprang into action, performing repeated chest compressions on the unresponsive animal. He also administered water to the monkey, pouring some over its body to help cool and comfort it.
The entire episode, lasting nearly 45 minutes, was conducted under the watchful eyes of a group of monkeys that had gathered, observing their fellow monkey’s plight. Despite the potential danger from the agitated troupe, Tomar’s colleagues shielded him, allowing him to continue his lifesaving efforts.
Tomar explained his actions by noting the anatomical similarities between humans and monkeys, which enabled him to apply his CPR training effectively. “Since the bodies of humans and monkeys are very similar, I tried to revive the monkey while my colleagues protected me from an agitated troupe… It took almost 45 minutes,” he said.
The rescued monkey, now a frequent visitor to the Chhatari police station, has shown its gratitude by returning daily. Tomar’s quick response and dedication have not only saved a life but also highlighted the profound bond that can exist between humans and animals.
The video shared by IANS on social media has garnered significant praise for Officer Tomar, showcasing the extraordinary lengths to which the police can go to serve and protect all living beings, regardless of species.
