Pranoy knocked Out Of Thailand Masters 2020

Mumbai: Indian shuttler HS Prannoy is out of the ongoing Masters 2020 in Thailand on Wednesday.

Prannoy was beaten by Malaysia’s LY Daren 21-17 20-22 21-19 in 68 minutes. Prannoy lost to his lower-ranked opponent, number 41 in the world, ending his run in the competition.

Earlier in the day, Spanish shuttler Carolina Marin reached the second round of the ongoing tournament.

Marin defeated South Korea’s Kim Ga-Yun 20-22 21-10 21-5 in 52 minutes. The first game saw the neck-to-neck battle of both shuttlers and the Koreans win. In the next two matches, it was an easy show for 2016 Rio Olympics gold medalist Marin.

The 26-year-old finished as runner-up in his last competition, Indonesia Masters 2020. While in the first tournament of the year, Malaysia Masters 2020, she lost in the semi-finals to China’s Chen Yu Fei.
Marin will now play in the second-round match on Thursday 23 January.

Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Sameer Verma bowed out of the Thailand Masters 2020 after losing their first-round matches.

Srikanth lost to Sesar Hiren Rautavato of Indonesia 21–12, 14–21, 11–21 in 48 minutes. His disappointing form continues and this is his third consecutive defeat of the year and his second consecutive defeat at the hands of Rustavito.
