President Kovind Meets PM Modi For First-Hand Account Of His Security Breach In Punjab

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu also called up the Prime Minister and expressed his deep concern about the security breach.

The Vice President also hoped that stringent steps would be taken to faithfully follow the established security protocols and ensure that such a situation does not recur in future.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has constituted a two-member high-level committee to probe the lapses during the Prime Minister’s visit to Ferozepur.

The committee, which will submit its report within three days, comprises Justice (retd) Mehtab Singh Gill and principal secretary, home affairs and justice, Anurag Verma.

The Supreme Court has also agreed to hear on Friday a plea seeking a court-monitored inquiry into the breach in the security of the Prime Minister during his visit to Punjab.

The Union Home Ministry has also directed the state government to file an immediate report accusing it of failing to ensure the required deployment with Amit Shah saying that such dereliction of the security procedure is totally unacceptable and accountability will be fixed.
