Mumbai: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday attacked the Uttar Pradesh government over the issue of women’s safety, asking if Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would answer how successful his ‘mission power’ is because reports of crimes against women suggest that they are “not safe” in the state at all.
Chief Minister Adityanath launched the ‘Mission Shakti’ campaign last month focusing on ensuring the safety and dignity of women and girls, sternly warning that criminals of crimes against women will be dealt with an iron hand.
Attacking the government, Priyanka Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi, “Will the UP chief minister bother to tell how successful his mission power is?”
Congress general secretary in-charge of UP said, “Because reports of crime against women from UP are saying that UP is not safe for women. In many places, girls committed suicide because their pleas were not heard.”
The Congress has attacked the UP government over the law and order situation, denying the claim made by Adityanath.
