Prostitution Racket Busted In Mumbai, 5 Including 2 Minor Girls Rescued

Mumbai: Three women and two minor girls aged 16 were rescued from a prostitution racket in Mumbai and a woman and managers of two hotels were arrested for aiding the crime.

The police have arrested a woman and the managers of two hotels for their cooperation in the crime. The three accused have been identified as 32-year-old Ruby Gupta, 27-year-old Teerth Acharya and 32-year-old Arjun Joshi.

Police said all three have been charged under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and human trafficking.

Crime Branch Unit 11 officials had received information that a woman allegedly provided women and minor girls for prostitution. Acting on a tip-off, the officials laid traps in two hotels in Gorai and caught the accused after reaching a hotel with the victim.

The accused have been handed over to Gorai police station for further investigation, while the victims have been sent to the shelter home.
