Puducherry Adds 2,007 New Cases To COVID Tally

Mumbai: Puducherry posted 2,007 fresh cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, with total positivity rising to 77,031.

Twenty-seven more people succumbed to illness during the last twenty-four hours to raise the toll to 1025.

The dead were aged between 47 and 85 years.

S Mohan Kumar, director of the Health and Family Welfare Service, said that there are 1,590 new cases in the Puducherry region alone. There were 238 cases in Karaikal, followed by Yanam 129 and Mahe 50.

2,007 fresh cases were identified at the end of the investigation with 9,176 people, a positivity rate of 21.87 per cent.

There were 15,562 active cases (2065 in hospitals and the remaining 13,497 in house isolation), 60,424 patients recovered and discharged so far.

During the last 24 hours, 1,247 patients were recovered and discharged.

The mortality and recovery rates were 1.36 per cent and 78.44 per cent, respectively.

He said that so far 8.80 lakh samples were tested and 7.89 lakh of them were found to be negative.
