Puducherry Records 20 Fresh COVID-19 Cases, 1 Death

Mumbai: The Health Department said that the COVID-19 rally in the Union Territory of Puducherry increased to 39,468 on Monday with 20 fresh cases.

An 82-year-old man who had co-morbidities succumbed to the coronavirus, which took a toll in 658.

Director of Health and Family Welfare Service S Mohan Kumar said in a release that a total of 1,400 samples were tested during the last 24 hours ending at 10 am and the number of samples tested was 6.08 lakh.

There were 236 active cases after recovery of 41 patients during the period. So far, 38,574 people in the Union Territory have been cured of the disease.

The Puducherry region accounted for 16 of the fresh cases, while the Karaikal and Mahe regions reported two cases each. Yanam registered zero cases.

Kumar said that since starting the drive last month, 5,644 health care workers and 309 front-line workers have been vaccinated at UT.
