Puducherry Reports 20 New COVID-19 Cases

Mumbai: The Union Territory of Puducherry registered 20 new cases of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours ending at 10 am on Tuesday, bringing the infection count to 39,488.

Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release that none of the four areas of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam had any fresh fatal attacks.

He said that there were 213 active cases and that 43 patients were discharged from hospitals during the last 24 hours after recovery, with a total recovery of 38,617, while 658 were fatal.

He said that the death rate and recovery rates were 1.67 per cent and 97.79 per cent respectively.

A total of 2,082 samples were examined in the last 24 hours. Mohan Kumar said that 6.09 lakh samples were tested so far, of which 5.66 lakh were found to be negative.

Puducherry region accounted for 10 out of 20 new cases, while Karaikal and Mahe had five new cases.

The director said a total of 5,920 health care workers and 323 frontline workers have been vaccinated against COVID- 19.
