Punjab CM Amarinder Singh Resigns Along With His Council Of Ministers

Mumbai: Captain Amarinder Singh has stepped down from the post of Punjab CM, after being asked to do so by the Congress high command. Singh met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit and submitted resignations of his Council of Ministers along with his own, his media advisor said.

This development has come just four months before the assembly elections in Punjab.

His son Raninder said in a tweet, “My father submitting his resignation to HE the Governor Sahib of Punjab (sic).”

The decision came after a meeting of MLAs close to the Chief Minister at his official residence in Chandigarh.

Amarinder Singh had called up Congress President Sonia Gandhi earlier in the day and expressed displeasure over the “insults” received from her, reports news agency PT.
