‘Radical’ Muslims Behind Anti-CAA Protests, Real Target Is Ram Temple: BJP Lawmaker
Mumbai: Following the ongoing Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest BJP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha lawmaker GVL Narasimha Rao said, CAA is just an “excuse” and the target is Ram Temple.
He alleged that the CAA’s opposition was sponsored by “radical” Muslims and that they were using the amended law to create unrest in the country.
“CAA protest which has been going on in many places since last one month is being done by some fundamentalists of the Muslim community … CAA is not going to take citizenship of those protesting in Shaheen Bagh. Who is sponsoring the protest? These protests are the handiwork of radical Muslims,” Rao told ANI.
“Parties like Congress, CPM supported citizenship for minorities from Pakistan … They are now changing the situation. They are all now under blackmail… Citizenship Amendment Act is only an excuse and their target is Ram Mandir. They Ram does not want to build the temple. They are using the CAA to create unrest in the country, “he said.
When asked about passing anti-CAA resolutions from Punjab and Kerala, the BJP leader said that questioning any law passed by Parliament does not come under the purview of the state legislatures.
The CAA grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Zoroastrians, Buddhists and Christians fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and those who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.
