Rahul Gandhi Calls PM Modi To Get Relief Support For The Wayanad Landslide Victims

Mumbai: It is reported that Rahul Gandhi had made a phone call to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to seek help from its constituency present in Kerala for the landslide-hit region and relief for the victims in Wayanad.

Rahul Gandhi’s Wayanad MP office tweeted that the prime minister has assured to help, “The prime minister has assured to provide any assistance required to mitigate the results of the disaster”

On Thursday in a message to his constituency, Gandhi had asked his constituency people to help in the rescue work. He had also mentioned in his tweet his growing concerns about the floods in his constituency. He said that he had also talked with three collectors there. “they have informed me about the situation. I have also talked with the Chief Minister of Kerala. We had a conversation and I asked him to work as much and as fast as possible.

A heavy landslide had been reported in Wayanad’s Meppadi region, where there was a housing colony of the plantation labourers and many are feared to be dead or missing. Around 14 people were dead and about 22,000 people were evacuated from the region to 315 relief camps. The havoc caused by the rains is immense and has scared the people in Kerala. Many people fear that this year’s rain might lead to the massive flood that had hit the region last year.
