Rahul Gandhi Slams Centre Over WhatsApp Spyware Row, Links it With Rafale Deal

Mumbai: Pegasus is spyware that can be installed on devices running certain versions of iOS, Apple’s mobile operating system, developed by the Israeli cyber arms firm, NSO Group.

Pegasus is capable of reading text messages, tracking calls, collecting passwords, tracing the location of the phone, accessing the target device’s microphone(s) and video camera(s), and gathering information from apps.

Rahul Gandhi compares the pegasus to the rafale jets. He tweeted that, “The government seeking WhatsApp’s response on who bought Pegasus to spy on Indian citizens is like Modi asking Dassault who made money on the sale of Rafale jets to India!” although he was already accusing the government and PM Modi of the corruption of Rafale deal.
