Rahul, Kohli Gain In T20I Rankings After Great Performance Against West Indies

Mumbai: After a remarkable inning in recent T20 series against West Indies Indian opener KL Rahul and skipper Virat Kohli have significant progress in the latest ICC T20I player rankings.

Rahul’s scores of 62 and 91 in the first and third T20Is have lifted him three places to the sixth position, while Kohli’s two matches of 94 and 70 have taken him back into the top ten. He has secured five places from 15th place in his pre-series.

Rohit Sharma is the third Indian in the top 10 in ninth place. Kohli, who was named as the player of the series with a total of 183 runs, is now in the top 10 in all three formats, occupying the top spot in Test and ODI rankings.

Among the other Indian players to gain in the latest ranking update, left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is ranked 15th among 74 bowlers and Washington Sundar at 19th spot at 14th and Deepak Chahar at 22nd position at 21st.

For the West Indies, Kieron Pollard has moved from 106th to 79th position with 105 runs in the series, including a 68-run battle in the final match in Mumbai, while Nicholas Pooran is 96th to 83rd. Shimron Hetimer’s 120-run aggregate sees him gain 100 slots and finish 104th.

In the bowlers’ list, Sheldon Cottrell has gained eight slots to finish 12th while Jason Holder is ranked 82nd to 71st.

The two teams will now play each other in a three-match ODI series starting on Sunday, 15 December in Chennai.
