Railway Ministry To Ban The Usage Of Plastic Below 50 Microns

Mumbai: Indian Prime Minister on the occasion of Independence Day had announced that the usage of plastic bags and any other plastic material under 50 microns will be banned throughout the country. The Ministry of the railway to has asked the railway staff to reduce the use of plastic for their products and stop using plastic bags less than 50 microns thickness.
The ban announced by PM will come into strict action after 2nd October. The Plastic bag waste has been a big problem for India as the waste generated through plastic is not only harming the infrastructure, sewage canals but also the rivers and environmental set up of the country.
The Ministry of Railway in its press release has shown concerns about the environment and the need to go eco-friendly. With this regard the Ministry of the railway in issued some instructions that the staff had to follow.
- Ban on single-use plastic material
- All railway vendors to avoid the use of plastic carry bags
- Staff should reduce, reuse and refuse plastic products and use inexpensive reusable bags to reduce plastic footprint.
- IRCTC to implement the return of plastic drinking waterbottles as part of Extended Producer Responsibility.
- Plastic Bottle crushing machines to be provided expeditiously.
The ban becomes necessary because excessive plastic waste has become a reason for water clogging in many sewers and are posing a danger to animals, nature, and human health. People are advised to replace plastic bags with cloth bags and cloth bags. Plastic straws have already been replaced by paper straw. Along with the railway ministry, the public to is spotted supporting the ban as everyone is now aware of the danger the plastic pose.
