Rains Put Train Time Tables In A Turmoil, Service Stopped Between CSMT-Thane And Vadala-Vashi

Mumbai: The heavy rainfall in the Mumbai and surrounding areas has led to many problems for the people travelling by trains. On top of that, the Virar station track failed on Wednesday on the western railway route of the suburban train services.

The western railway updated the people through the release. They said, “Due to track failure in Virar, slow trains in the down direction towards Virar will be running between Churchgate to Vasai Road stations on Wednesday,” Western Railway informed in a release.

“All remaining trains are running late by 15-20 minutes. AC-EMU local train will be running between Churchgate and Vasai stations until further notice.”

Central Railway on Wednesday at 13. 30 hrs, tweeted the updated train schedules, “CR Suburban updates at 13.30 hrs Due to continuous & heavy rains, services stopped between CSMT-Thane on mainline; Vadala-Vashi on harbour line Services are running on CSMT-Vadala-Andheri/Goregaon; Vashi-Panvel; Thane-Vashi/Panvel; Thane-Kasara/Karjat/Khopoli,”

The weather department issued a red alert for Mumbai and other suburban areas as it has been raining for continuous two days and the conditions are more flood-like. The department has asked the authorities to be prepared for any situation. Out of 150 weather stations in Mumbai Metropolitan Region, almost 100 recorded 200mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.
