Raj Thackeray Requests EC To Conduct Assembly Elections With Ballot Paper In Maharashtra

Mumbai: Raj Thackeray, chief of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), wrote about today the ‘India Election Commission (ECI)’ in the country to restore trust in the election process.

He said that the way people are contesting in the last few years and the way the EVMs are being raised, people have communicated their dissatisfaction.

“We request you to got back to ballot papers and appeal to have assembly election in Maharashtra with ballot papers only,” the letter read.

In the letter, Thackeray has also mentioned some media reports that claimed unreasonable votes in the calculation of votes.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi had also questioned the credibility of the Election Commission under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule.

“Without an arbitrator, an independent press, an independent judiciary and a transparent election commission which is fair and neutral, one election cannot be fair”.
