Rajasthan Bans All Religious Gatherings Ahead Of Kanwar Yatra, Eid-ul-Zuha

Rajasthan: The Rajasthan government has banned all religious programs and congregations ahead of the Kanwar Yatra and Eid-ul-Zuha to curb the spread of COVID-19.

According to the notification, the annual Mudiya Poono Mela, which is held annually in the Govardhan area of ​​Mathura, will also not be held this year. Devotees will not be allowed to assemble even at the Chaturmas festival.

The state government has also requested all the devotees to perform puja and puja at home and strictly follow the COVID-19 protocol.

The Kanwar Yatra has been canceled for the second consecutive year in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Uttarakhand. 

In Uttar Pradesh, where lakhs of devotees make the annual pilgrimage, a decision on this is yet to be taken. Eid-ul-Zuha will be celebrated on 21st July.

According to the Union Health Ministry, Rajasthan currently has 522 active COVID-19 cases. A total of 9,43,788 have been cured in the state so far and 8,947 people have died.

2,75,00,622 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been given in the state, which includes 2,23,73,512 first dose and 51,27,110 second dose.
