Rashid Khan Named Afghanistan Captain In All Formats

Mumbai: After a poor performance in ICC World Cup Afghanistan Cricket Board has named Rashid as the captain of all three formats.

Earlier, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) surprised all by appointing Gulbadin Nabb as the captain of the 2019 World Cup. Rashid Khan was made the captain of the T20I, while Rahmat Shah was made the Test captain while Asghar Afghans were excluded for no reason.

Afghanistan failed to win even single match in the World Cup due to there poor performance which created a huge buzz. Mohammad Shahzad was dispatched home after the first two matches, while Aftab Alam has no clarity on sending back before the final few matches of the tournament.

Many people were not happy with the appointment of Gulbaddin Naib along with Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, and critics felt that the team’s performance was affected by that reason.

According to TOLO News reports, ACB has appointed Rashid Khan as the captain of Afghanistan in all formats of the game. The Board’s decision to go with the split captaincy has already been dumped before the decision was taken. The situation in Afghanistan’s cricket never looked good because Afghanistan was removed from the captaincy and in earlier reports, it was also said that Afghanistan will be recruited once again as the captain of the team.

Notably, Rashid performance in ICC tournament was not up to the mark he failed to take wickets for his side though he troubled a couple of teams, the leggie ended with only six wickets to his name.

It is yet to be seen whether it will be able to put pressure on the captaincy along with his bowling in all formats. He led Afghanistan in the ICC World Cup Qualifier last year and now he will do well.
